OUr Story
The Sitara Grotto Clown Unit was born on the very same day the Grotto received its official charter—March 8th, 2025—emerging from a joyous conversation among the brethren who shared an ambitious vision: to create a unit that would bring laughter, light, and community engagement to the heart of El Paso. What began as a spirited idea quickly took shape as the Clown Unit embraced the dual mission of spreading mirth and supporting the charitable goals of the Sitara Grotto. With vibrant costumes, humorous traditions, and a heartfelt commitment to service, the Clown Unit has become a colorful cornerstone of the Grotto’s public presence—delighting crowds at parades, uplifting spirits in hospitals, and transforming every appearance into a moment of connection. Guided by the principle, “You must spread the mirth,” the Sitara Clown Unit continues to embody the playful soul and fraternal warmth of the Grotto in every step, laugh, and honk.
